Clinical trials as well as white papers and “experience with laser” articles becoming prevalent among medical practitioners. Early laser systems and IPL devices in retrospect thought to be painfully slow, greatly uncomfortable to the patient, and sometimes mysterious to the practitioner.
Experimentation and learning by trial and error commonplace within the offices of the earliest practitioners. However, attainable and realized results helps to pave the way for greater innovation and promise within the light based aesthetics community.
2000
By the turn of the century, light based treatments now become much more commonplace within a medical clinic and a newly coined “medical spa” industry is born. Nd: YAG laser now within the marketplace as a solution to all skin types.
2003
North Carolina State student experiences a negative reaction after clinic advised use of topical anesthetic far in excess of maximum dosage. An amazingly unfortunate event becomes one of the first reported death’s due to laser hair removal, sparking an examination in many states as to the training and credentialing requirements of laser hair removal practitioners.

The Texas Laser Institute – Association of Laser Professionals is recognized as the first Texas based Certifying Entity. TLI-ALP plays an integral role in certifying laser practitioners as Professional Technicians so that facilities can become compliant with new rules and regulations.
